Kenny DeForest Died Due To Bike Accident in NYC
According to his loved ones, stand-up comic Kenny DeForest died in a bicycle accident in New York City.
Kenny DeForest was 37. DeForest, who appeared on NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” and HBO’s “Crashing,” was injured in an e-bike accident on December 8, according to his friend and fellow comedian Ryan Beck in an online fundraising. The cause of the collision was not immediately known.
“Kenny underwent neurological surgery to remove a piece of his skull and relieve pressure from a brain bleed at Kings County Hospital,” according to the GoFundMe website.
He died in the hospital on Wednesday, surrounded by his parents, family, and friends.
“Kenny’s final moments included some of his favorite songs, stories of his childhood, and memories of his extensive positivity and joy for life,” Beck wrote in a statement.

Kenny DeForest will continue to make a difference through “the gift of organ donation,” according to the GoFundMe page. Beck wrote that the funds raised will cover his medical expenditures.
The actor, writer, and comedian, who was born in Springfield, Missouri, had his first appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” in 2017. The following year, Kenny DeForest released his stand-up album “B.A.D. Dreams.”
According to his YouTube biography, he was selected one of Comedy Central’s “Comics to Watch” and the Village Voice’s “Best of the New Faces” at the famous Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal.
In August, DeForest released a comedy special called “Don’t You Know Who I Am?” on YouTube.
On social media, the comedy community has paid tribute to DeForest.
In an online memorial, the “Late Night with Seth Meyers” show honored DeForest as “a universally beloved comedian who died tragically, and much too young.”
“His comfortable, assured delivery was always noticeable. As evidenced by his inaugural late night set on LNSM, he was not hesitant to tackle contentious themes, but never for the sake of being edgy – always in service of an unusual angle and a fantastic joke. “It’s too bad we won’t be able to see what he comes up with next,” the tribute said.
Adam Conover, a comedian, described DeForest as “one of the funniest and most beloved comics any of us knew.”
Joel Kim Booster, an actor and comedian, remembers DeForest as “one of the brightest lights in the comedy community.”
“When I was new to everything and most of the guys in the Chicago scene saw me as a sideshow interloper, it was Kenny who made me feel welcome, gave me great advice, and encouraged me to keep going.” He was my comic big brother, and I’m not sure I ever told him how much of an impact his simple acts of kindness had on me. “I’ll always be sorry,” he posted on Instagram.
